We are seeking a highly motivated Accounting Technician to join our Financial Reporting team. This role offers the opportunity to study for an accounting qualification, alongside your day-to-day role.
You’ll be involved in the production of the Society’s month end close as well as prepare key reporting to the Bank of England and the PRA. You’ll help to identify and implement improvements and efficiencies to our reporting processes.
This role will suit someone with strong problem solving and analytical skills with a thirst for knowledge and a proactive nature. You’ll be organised, inquisitive and have a passion for challenging and improving existing processes.

A requirement of this role will be to attend our Swindon office 2 days each week.

What you’ll be doing
You will be studying for an accounting qualification, alongside your day-to-day role.
This role sits within the Regulatory Reporting team and is a great opportunity to be part of a team delivering essential reporting to the Bank of England and the PRA. A key focus is ensuring accurate and reliable reporting; helping to maintain our strong relationship with the Regulators. In addition, you will support the team with the Society’s month end close. There are also opportunities to get involved in exciting projects across wider Finance.
You’ll support the Finance Manager and the Head of External Financial Reporting, taking a primary responsibility for producing the reports, understanding the reporting requirements, maintaining quality assurance and control, whilst ensuring deadlines are met.
What’s more, by driving the implementation of efficiencies and improvements in Regulatory Reporting, you’ll play an important part in the ongoing financial success of the Finance Function and help towards the achievement of Nationwide’s strategic goals.
About you
As a minimum, you’ll:
- Strong A levels or accountancy focused qualifications
- Have achieved a Grade ‘A’ or ‘B’ / Grade 6-9 in Mathematics GCSE (or equivalent)
- Actively be looking to pursue a professional accountancy qualification.
- Have strong numerical, analytical, written and verbal communication skills. These will be used for writing numerical analysis reports, for internal stakeholders and external bodies.
- Have an appetite to improve processes and implement efficiencies.
