Accounts Assistant

Orka Financial is working with a growing Engineering business in Slough (hybrid) to recruit an Accounts Assistant who will join their finance team. This role will report directly into the Financial Controller and work closely with the Management Accountant.
Job Responsibilities:

• Conducting thorough analyses of overhead expenses, preparing schedules and reconciliations to provide valuable insights into expenditure patterns.
• Analyse employee expenses and credit cards efficiently, ensuring accurate recording and compliance with policies.
• Playing a crucial role in month-end and year-end closing activities, contributing to the preparation of detailed financial reports and analyses.
• Assist in the preparation and posting of General Ledger journals, ensuring accuracy and completeness in financial transactions.
• Handling prepayments and accruals efficiently, maintaining accurate records and making timely adjustments.
• Responsible for maintaining and updating the fixed asset register, ensuring accurate recording, tracking, and depreciation of fixed assets.
• Process and reconcile duty deferment statements accurately and promptly, ensuring compliance with reporting requirements.
• Performing monthly reconciliations of intercompany accounts.
• Updating exchange rates daily and prepare cash flow forecasts, contributing to effective management of foreign currency transactions.
• Assisting in audit preparations and provide essential documentation and support during the audits.

Profile:

• Previous experience in a similar role, ideally within finance or accounting.
• Preferred qualifications include relevant certifications or degrees in accounting such as AAT.
• Proficiency in accounting software
• Advanced Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUP, PIVOT)
• Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and financial reporting.
• Demonstrated capability to complete tasks within specified timeframes.

Salary:
£32,000 - £35,000 + onsite parking + benefits
