We have an exciting position available for an Active Place Development Officer whose role will be responsible for supporting the objectives of Salford’s Place Partnership, funded by Sport England, to engage with people living in East Salford to lead a more active lifestyle. The Active Place Development Officer will apply a person-centred community asset approach (PCCA) to listen and work with community members, to advocate the health and wellbeing benefits of moving more, and to provide support for existing community groups to address barriers to be more inclusive, encouraging additional opportunities for engagement (i.e. volunteering, social memberships, family activities). This role will be based at various locations across the city and will be part of the Active Communities Team.
We are looking for someone who:
- Demonstrate a clear connection with people in diverse communities in East Salford
- Support the organisation to engage with people living in diverse communities who are not that active to co-design solutions and support more people in East Salford to move more every day
- Lead on various existing physical activity programmes which promote inclusive activity
- Test new innovative solutions using data intelligence and insight to support more people to move more
- The Active Place Development Officer will link to additional interventions as part of the Salford (and Greater Manchester) Place Partnerships working towards increased activity levels, and approaches to ensure positive behaviour change through whole systems approaches to increasing Physical Activity
- Attend Salford Physical Activity Alliance steering group, and work with relevant partners – other duties as directed, in discussion with other partners
- Working as part of overall Place Partnership team to co-ordinate, promote and develop opportunities in Salford
- Consistently demonstrates SCL’s behaviours
