The Role and the Department

The International Office is responsible for:

  • The recruitment of international students to all areas of the university to meet institutional targets.
  • Supporting and managing the developing of international partnerships to raise the University’s global profile and to support academic colleagues in developing international links and collaborations.
  • Managing the university’s student mobility programmes (exchange partnerships) to meet the University’s student mobility targets.

The role is to support all aspects of the work of the International Office in particular the work of a team of Regional Managers and International Officers who represent the University in international target markets. The role involves a high level of organisational skill to provide seamless logistical support for travelling staff. Post holders also require high level customer care skills and a level of flexibility and initiative to deal with a fast pace of work and changing priorities. The role requires staff to show cultural sensitivity and be able to deal with people at all levels (for example senior academic, parents and applicants) from across the globe.

To be considered for this role, here are the skills/experience we’re looking for:

Essential Criteria

Qualifications/Experience

1. Five GCSE’s at least Grade C or level four (or equivalent) including English Language and Mathematics or equivalent experience or qualifications.
2. Experience of working in a busy office environment delivering front line administrative services or having relevant qualifications for the role.
3. Experience of managing time to meet deadlines and working under pressure without compromising on quality.

4. Experience of working in a team.

Skills/Abilities/Knowledge

1. Good spoken and written communication skills.

2. Good digital skills including experience in using digital devices and apps including [the internet, email, digital communication tools, Microsoft 365 applications, digital booking systems].

3. Committed to continuing professional development.

4. Ability to solve problems and resolve straightforward issues yourself and as part of a team.

5. Ability to provide advice and guidance to a range of colleagues and customers.

6. An awareness of cultural sensitivities.

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience of using content management systems to update websites.
  • Experience of using SharePoint.
  • Experience of using Banner (student registration system).
  • Experience of processing payments using a finance system.
  • Mandarin speaker.
