```Overview```
Would you like to join a small team of practitioners, volunteers and family carers to provide genuine person centred support to a small group of adults with mild to moderate learning disabilities. You will provide social and emotional support while our service users explore our service, assisting them in learning basic horticulture skills, socialise and develop self-confidence within our wider community. The position is for 30 hours per week, preferable hours 0900-1530 but this is negotiable. The salary offered is £20,000-£23,000 per annum, pro rata (based on a 37.5 hour week) depending on qualifications and experience.
```Responsibilities```
-Listen, strive to understand and empathise with our service users
-To support service users with communication and help them articulate their thoughts, feelings, needs and preferences.
-Help co-ordinate volunteers to support our service users.
-To positively manage risk to enable the service users to do their chosen activities safely.
-To support service users with their anxiety and help regulate behaviour.
-To participate in training, team meetings and regular supervision.
-To work collaboratively with service users, carers and other professionals to ensure service users receive consistent support.
-To use "planning and preparation time" to ensure client outings go smoothly, to prepare indoor sessions in polytunnels and classrooms on site during bad weather and to ensure important information is recorded and communicated across the team

To excel in this role, you should possess the following skills:
- Compassion and empathy for individuals in need of care
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work well in a team environment
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to handle stressful situations with patience and professionalism
Preferred Skills:
- Experience of working with adults with learning disabilities either in a personal or professional capacity
-At least one year's experience of supporting or teaching/tutoring individuals with emotional or social functioning difficulties, such as ASD, learning disabilities, brain injury or mental health problems.
-Desirable but not essential, qualifications at Level 2 or above of the regulated qualification framework in an appropriate sector.
-Strong motivation and enjoyment for this type of work including a basic knowledge of gardening, e.g. how to grow plants from seeds.
-An average level of fitness or above.
