We are looking to recruit an Apprentice Web Designer who we will train to become a website User Experience (UX) Designer. UX designers perform a wide range of activities including:
- Researching users to understand their needs, behaviors, and motivations.
- Prototyping website designs to test user journeys.
- Creating intuitive website content using plain English.
- Implementing accessibility techniques to ensure our websites can be used by everyone.
- Collaborating closely with other key specialists such as User Interface (UI) designers and developers to ensure that the final product meets the needs of the user and the business.
We are looking for a hard-working problem solver, with a very good standard of written English, who is eager to learn and will bring a positive attitude to their work. You must hold a minimum of two GCSEs at Grade C or above, including English and Maths (or equivalent). You must be willing to work towards, and do not already hold the Level 3 Digital Support Technician Apprenticeship Standard.

Your role
Working within the Digital Services team, you will work alongside experienced members of staff who are designing new online user experiences for the council. You will provide support to a range of important projects, help to keep our websites up to date and learn all the skills you need to become an experienced UX designer for the council.

The qualification
You will complete a Level 3 Digital Support Technician to develop the skills you need to build a career as a UX designer. You will be given at least one day per week to work on your qualification alongside your daily duties within the team.
