Aquabiosens - Research Fellow

Location: Highfield Campus Full Time Fixed Term - 3 years Interview Date: To be confirmed Research Fellow Applications are invited for Research Fellow position within the School of Electronics and Computer Science at the University of Southampton. The work will involve the development of an “Organ on Chip” platform for sensing toxins in the aquatic environment. The post is part of a three year European project (AquaBioSens) and you will have the opportunity to collaborate closely with cell biologists from the National Oceanography Centre. The successful candidate will have a PhD or equivalent professional qualification and experience in a relevant physical/engineering science. Applications for Research Fellow positions will be considered from candidates who are working towards or nearing completion of a relevant PhD qualification. The title of Research Fellow will be applied upon successful completion of the PhD. Prior to the qualification being awarded the title of Senior Research Assistant will be given. The candidates must possess detailed knowledge and experience in design and fabrication of microfluidic systems, with skills in sensors, micro-fabrication, electronics and programming. We are looking for a self-motivated person, able to organise their own research activities effectively, and collaborate successfully across disciplines. The successful candidate will be a good communicator and will be expected to take the lead in preparing reports, presenting results to the consortium and writing research papers. You must also be able to work effectively in a team and organize time, tasks and responsibilities with other team members.
