Area Technical Manager

What you need to know about the role

As an Area Technical Manager your role will be critical to achieving a ‘right first time’ quality culture by acting as the technical lead within an area of steelmaking. You will work as part of a trio, alongside manufacturing and engineering, to investigate quality related non-compliance, highlight issues, and improve processes. You will ensure quality assurance within your area by managing codes of practice and reviewing compliance against them.

Key duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Investigating quality related non-compliance and applying root cause analysis techniques
• Responding to customer enquiries for new products
• Creation and development of steelmaking process routes
• Development and trialing of products and processes
• Monitoring/Improving area KPI performance
• Proactive identification of issues and opportunities
• Liaising between internal and external customers
• Maintaining the quality management system

What we need to know about you

We’re looking for someone who is ideally degree qualified in a scientific subject with relevant experience, ideally in a scientific/heavy industry – however this is not essential.

You should have strong IT and communication skills with the ability to work on your own initiative.

Experience of Lean Six Sigma improvement techniques and application of data analysis techniques are also desirable.
