Artistic Director
Salary £18,000 per annum
(27 Hours per week) Invoiced and paid monthly from September – June
- Design of full season programme including concert curation, educational workshops, calls for scores, competitions, and related external opportunities.
- Overseeing all elements in relation to branding and marketing of Hard Rain SoloistEnsemble
- Season Brochure authoring
- Liaising with venues, promoters, agents and festivals
- Media interviews
- Authoring project proposals and pitching to festivals and venues
- Development of outreach initiatives including regular QUB activities
- Overseeing advertising & design, writing programme notes and updating of artist biographies.
- Authoring regular mailing list and social media channel updates
- Approval of website maintenance, design and updates
- Development of “Earned Income” initiatives.
- National and International connections including initial liaising with all relevant festivals, promotion agencies, bookers, universities, venues, broadcast agencies and funders.
- Liaising with composers, publishers and professional bodies regarding works, programming, and scores
- Developing connections with multi-genre arts organisations throughout NI
- Attendance at networking sessions such as NMDX, Talent Development Network meetings, Arts & Business events to generate interest in HRSE and seek further opportunities
- Financial management, negotiating fees and managing budgets, invoicing and making payments, general accounting of season expenditure.
- Fundraising, reporting to funders, sourcing new avenues of financial support
- Managing musicians and fixing fees
- Organisation of deputy and additional guest players as required
- Overseeing Concert Manager duties and additional Front of House / Technical staff
- Coordinating committee meetings and submitting quarterly reports
- Overseeing professional recordings and licensing
- Other duties assisting office admin as required
Essential Criteria
- Post-Graduate Degree level qualification in Music (or associated)
- In-depth understanding of contemporary music and a wide range of arts and performance experience
- Significant experience working within an arts environment with experience of designing and delivering ambitious and innovative arts projects (performance, educational, cross-genre) to a high standard
- Substantial experience in setting up and managing partnerships and future opportunities
- Extensive knowledge of the NI Arts scene, key personnel and connections with related arts organisations
- Strong organisational and administrative skills with ability to plan and deliver multiple projects
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to deliver innovative high-quality concerts alongside learning and participation experiences.
- Highly motivated to work effectively within the HRSE team and on own initiative.
- Passionate and well-informed about a range of arts and performance.
- Experience of fundraising within the arts
- International touring management experience
