Assistant Accountant

Assistant Accountant - £38,000 - £45,000 per year + Study Support & Benefits - Botley Oxfordshire, (Hybrid 2/3 days in the office)

FryerMiles is partnering with a growing legal practise based in Botley, Oxfordshire, to recruit an Assistant Accountant as the organisation continues to experience strong growth. Reporting to the part time CFO and working in a small team, you will be responsible for all day to day processing of finance transactions as well as supporting with month end.

The duties of the Assistant Accountant include:

• Processing of financial data in a timely manner using Xero, Dext, AirWallex and Equinox.
• Tracking bank accounts and prepaid account balances.
• Arranging payment of suppliers.
• Tracking supplier invoices and whether they are properly on-billed to clients, where appropriate.
• Completing VAT returns and making timely VAT payments.
• Managing all staff expense claims.
• Preparing monthly and ad hoc sales invoices and sending them out for payment.
• Assisting the paralegal team with IP right renewals and invoicing in advance.
• Tracking payment from clients, and chasing up late payments, with assistance from the client relationship manager.
• Various ad hoc financial and administrative projects to contribute to the ongoing success of the partnership.
• Assisting with annual renewals of insurance and registrations.
• Recording and updating of finance and related administrative procedures.
• New clients take on, client checks and credit checks.
• Preparing accounts up to Management Accounts.
• Preparing month end and year end reporting.

The successful Assistant Accountant will:

• Assistant Accountant experience with a working knowledge of Xero (using foreign currency).
• Ideally, qualified to AAT or above, studying towards ACCA or CIMA
• A self-starter who takes ownership, is hands on with excellent attention to detail.
• Ability to work in a small team.
• Preferred: experience working in (legal) SME environments.
• Willingness to learn new systems and skills, including some of the paralegal functions.
