A large private organisation in Oxford is looking for an experienced and efficient Assistant Accountant to join their finance team and report directly to the Management Accountant.

This role is responsible for helping to maintain an efficient and accurate finance function and ensuring transparency and efficiency in all transactions.
You will maintain financial policies and management information systems, as well as provide a high-quality support service by liaising with management colleagues on all aspects of finance.
A passion for numbers, accuracy, and skills in calculating figures is vital within this role, as is adeptness at paying attention to detail.
Key Accountabilities
These will include:
- Maintenance of nominal ledger including journals, prepayments/accruals, intercompany balances, sales ledger and all other balance sheet reconciliations.
- Assisting the management accountant where required
- Monthly bank reconciliations.
- Maintaining fixed asset register including additions and disposals and running month end depreciation calculation. Monthly reconciliations to nominal ledger.
- Provide support to the purchase ledger function with invoice processing, and the maintenance of utility accounts for new and leaving tenants.
- Support of AP automation and document retention for purchase invoices and payment runs.
- Support as and when appropriate for holiday and sickness cover for the team.
- Provide support to interim and year end audit as appropriate.
- Must conform to company policy and take initiative as appropriate.
Qualifications, Experience & Skills
Minimum Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience
- Three years plus experience working in a finance role.
- AAT qualified and future opportunity to progress with further qualifications
- Strong time management skills.
- Excellent organisation skills.
- Ability to communicate with all employees and stakeholders across different levels within the business.
Behavioural Competencies
- Ability to work under pressure and prioritise workloads effectively.
- Managing large volumes of data and creating business information from that data.
- Attention to detail and good communication skills. Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Office, ERP Systems). Good knowledge of double entry accounting.

This role is based in Oxford, with parking and hybrid working. Salary offered is £27k, 25 days holiday, pension and life assurance.
