About us

UCL is one of the U.K.’s premier research and teaching Universities (www.ucl.ac.uk), ranked within the top 15 global universities, and has one of the largest Biomedical Faculties in Europe. It is closely aligned to University College London Hospitals (UCLH) which has state-of-the-art facilities in central London (http://www.uclh.nhs.uk/),and continues to grow through a major investment in building. The UCL Cancer Institute is the hub for cancer research and translation research. In 2012 the UCH Macmillan Cancer Centre, sited directly opposite the Cancer Institute, opened. In December 2021 the Grafton Way Building, which houses the National Proton Beam Therapy Centre at UCLH and the Haematology, Transplantation and Cell Therapy inpatient unit treated its first patients. In 2019 a new Eastman Dental and Royal Ear Nose and Throat Hospital was opened. Clinical Cancer Trials has been a key component of UCL and UCLH’s research ethos. The Cancer Research UK and UCL Cancer Trials Centre (CTC) (www.ctc.ucl.ac.uk) opened in 1996 and is one of the largest academic cancer trials centres in the UK. The UCL Cancer Institute has a total grant income over £100 million, 50 scientific Group leaders, 32 clinical scientists and 50 honorary clinical consultants. The Cancer Institute is an internationally recognised centre for cancer research. UCL is an Experimental Cancer Medicine Centre. In collaboration with Queen Mary University London, the Francis Crick Institute and Kings College London, the Cancer Institute is also the hub for Cancer Research UK’s City of London Centre to develop biotherapeutics research https://www.ucl.ac.uk/cancer/research/centres-and-networks/cancer-research-uk-ucl-centre/cancer-research-uk-city-london-centre.

About the role
