Job Description
Your role at a glance
Reporting to the Director of Governance, Policy and Strategic Projects, you will be responsible for working with senior stakeholders to build and oversee a company-wide assurance framework.
Using your knowledge of risk management and the three lines of defence assurance model, You will support teams to develop and implement assurance activities to provide positive assurance that processes across the LGAH business are operating effectively.
You will use your experience of working with senior stakeholders to guide teams to produce insightful reporting, that supports leaders to be aware of the effectiveness of their first line controls and generates opportunities for future improvements to the control environment.
What you'll be doing
- You will create a function that will provide quality assurance for LGAH's business
- You will design and keep updated an assurance framework for the business.
- You will work with the executive to define LGAH's risk appetite with regard to process driven operational risk and through: the facilitation of post implementation reviews of significant areas of new business; the root cause investigation of risk events; the sample checking of processes across the business to determine where processes are not working effectively; and supporting the first line with process improvements, ensure that LGAH operates within its risk appetite.
- You will utilise data analytics where appropriate to support the quality assurance of first line process adherence.
- You will be working with the Executive to embed good behaviours and habits that support effective control and process operation and in so doing, create a strong culture of process management by developing measurements of process adherence, encouraging first line staff to follow processes, and ensure that learnings from failings in one process area of the business are communicated to and used by other areas of the business to drive improvements.
- You will work collaboratively with the Process Design Lead and Process Owners to support the testing and improvement of processes across the business.
- You will keep abreast of assurance and assurance analytical developments and advise the business on best practice.
- You will continually promote and ensure compliance with the Group's Equality and Diversity policy and procedures.
- You will establish, develop and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
- You will always ensure compliance with the Group's Health and Safety policy and compliance with all health and safety legal responsibilities.
- Qualification in risk or assurance preferable.
- Excellent working knowledge of risk and assurance in a regulated environment.
- Comfortable in influencing and building strong relationships with key stakeholders at all levels.
- Proven organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Experience in the financial services and/or affordable housing industries.
- Experience in working in a risk or assurance function, carrying out assurance activity and designing assurance programmes.
- Well versed in best practice in risk and assurance.
- Experience of creating a new assurance function, developing ways of working and monitoring success.
- Understanding of financial services, affordable housing or residential construction would be desirable.
- Experience of working with senior leaders to gather insight and management information on assurance activity and process adherence and presenting this information to senior stakeholders.
- Great communication, able to work across the business to encourage process adherence and a strong control environment
- Understanding of process management and appropriate controls.
- Guide the LGAH first line to better operational process outcomes and effective management of risk.
- Collate, interpret and report MI to identify trends and issues and bring these to the attention of the first line.
- Maintain effective collaborative working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, such as the LGC CRO.
- Proficient in Microsoft Suite software.
