Attendance Officer

Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Attendance Officer to join a school based in Southwark. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that students attend school regularly and punctually, and for supporting students who are struggling with attendance.
Responsibilities:

• Monitor and record student attendance, identifying patterns and trends in attendance and punctuality
• Investigate and address reasons for absence, including unauthorised absences, illness, and family holidays
• Work with parents/carers, teachers, and other school staff to address attendance issues and develop strategies to improve attendance
• Develop and implement attendance interventions, including individualised plans and group work
• Provide pastoral support to students who are struggling with attendance, including one-to-one mentoring and group work
• Collaborate with other agencies, such as social services, youth services, and health services, to support students who are absent from school
• Keep accurate records of attendance and attendance-related data
• Analyse attendance data to identify trends and areas for improvement
• Develop and implement strategies to improve attendance, including whole-school initiatives and targeted interventions

Requirements:

• Experience of working in a school or similar setting
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Strong organisational and administrative skills
• Ability to analyse data and identify trends
• Knowledge of attendance legislation and guidance
