Due to an increasing client portfolio, we are looking for an ambitious individual to join our well respected and supportive Internal Audit Team, so if you are looking to progress your career in audit, this could be the ideal role for you!
This role works across all of the Council's range of services so you’ll be critically assessing systems and processes to ensure objectives are met. This is a great opportunity to develop relations with business areas throughout the organisation and be a source of trusted advice.
As part of our risk based compliance programme your role will focus on visiting schools and other Council and public sector partners' sites across Staffordshire – so the variety is endless.
You will have an office base in Stafford, and we currently operate hybrid working, so there is flexibility for you to work from home, subject to service requirements.
Main Responsibility
You will be required to:
- Liaise with Auditees to plan and prepare for audits
- Prepare audit work programmes in consultation with auditees and Audit Managers
- Complete of internal audits across Staffordshire including site visits
- Document findings and preparing of reports
- Provide feedback to auditees, both written and verbal
- Assist in the prevention and detection of fraud through support for proactive exercises and fraud investigations
- Provide advice on risk and controls on receipt of ad hoc enquiries (in liaison with your Audit colleagues)
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone who:
- Has strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to convey detailed information to individuals at all levels of the organisation
- Has an eye for detail and a strong attention to accuracy
- Has a thorough and logical approach and be comfortable working on your own initiative to meet critical deadlines
- Is able to develop sound knowledge of the principles of internal audit and modern internal audit techniques
