Help transform lives by joining our team.
It's not easy, and it's not for everyone. But as a Support Worker, the rewards can be so much bigger than the challenges. You really will make a positive difference to people’s lives.
You’ll be joining our team, both locally and nationally and we’ll support you every step of the way.
We need you to be resilient, supportive and sensitive towards the needs of autistic people. Being a Support Worker takes bravery, patience and commitment. But working with autistic people gives so much more in return.
You may have a personal connection, a desire to work with or real life experiences working with autistic people. You might not have lots of experience yet, but if you share our values and are willing to make a difference to the lives of autistic people, we’d love to hear from you.
We offer a fantastic one year induction programme, continuing learning and development opportunities and the support you need to develop a career in social care. Along with a host of benefits – from shopping discounts to flexible working and a competitive pension scheme.
We are passionate about supporting autistic people into work, and particularly welcome applications from autistic people. We help autistic people from all backgrounds and strive to represent the same diversity in our staff and volunteers. We particularly encourage applications from people from all minority groups, who are currently under-represented in our workforce. Together, we can create a society that works for autistic people.
We are looking for Bank Support Workers to work across our Residential homes and Day Centres based in Gravesend, Kent
Our Day Centre currently supports autistic adults. They all thoroughly enjoy going out into the community as they regularly attend activities such as swimming, horse-riding and trampolining. A number of them also carry out Work Experience. Inside the Day Centre itself, they participate in the indoor activities such as music, drama, dance, art, cooking and self-help skills. The staff that work at these services have fantastic communication skills, use their own initiative and are flexible.
Our residential services all have a varied individual programme of activities designed to meet the social, leisure and development needs of the service users. Most attend a local National Autistic Society day centre where they have ample opportunity to pursue various interests such as art and crafts; computer work; cooking and other life skills; and many different sports and leisure activities. Away from the day centre, they benefit from a structured timetable which combines household tasks and many community based leisure activities.
