Job description

Safer London is looking for a Statutory and TrustsBid Manager to join our Pan London team

Location: London / Agile working

Contract: Permanent, subject to funding

Hours: 35 hours per week (please note as of 1st April 2024 Safer London will be moving to a 32 hour/4 day working week)

Starting salary: £46, 940

We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated and experienced individual to join our dedicated fundraising team. As Safer London enters a dynamic new stage of development looking at the next phase of its organisational strategy, we’re looking for a Bid Manager to help us improve the lives of young Londoners by growing our grant and contract-funded service portfolio.

Are you familiar with the funding environment for youth charities? Are you ready to drive growth for Safer London’s innovative services? Do you have an understanding and curiosity about the diverse experiences and challenges young Londoners face? Are you committed to social justice, equity, and inclusion? If yes, then you could be who we are looking for.

Who we are:

Safer London is a charity working with young Londoners and families who are affected by violence and exploitation. We believe that when a child or young person comes to us they are just that – a child or a young person: we don’t define them by the issue that has brought them to us. By working alongside young Londoners, their families, and peers in the places where they spend their time, we can create a safer London not just for them but for everyone.

About the role:

As a Bid Manager, you will:

  • Work effectively with practice managers and Leadership to prepare successful funding bids in a competitive environment, and identify new initiatives that could be converted into new opportunities for funding.
  • Develop and maintain a pipeline of prospective funders and scan the external environment to identify new funding opportunities that are aligned to Safer London’s aims and strategic priorities.
  • Develop and write inspirational, accurate, and compelling funding bids with the view of achieving fruitful long-term support for Safer London’s work.
  • Build and maintain relationships with current and prospective funders, including through maximising any relationships held by senior colleagues and trustees.
  • Maintain and develop internal income generation systems and processes, including donor records, financial information, funder reports, and internal monitoring to ensure effective stewardship and internal visibility of progress against plans.

Please see attached Job Pack for further details.

What we offer:

Safer London continually reviews its pay and offers a competitive benefits package to all employees, including the following benefits:

  • 4-day/32-hour work week from April 1st, 2024, with no impact on pay. This means that you will have a regular day off in the week with no impact on your pay.
  • Agile working: flexibility to work in different locations including from home, our office in Southwark and/or community locations (libraries/co-working spaces).
  • Flexible Working: our Flexible Working Policy allows requests to work flexibly from the start of your employment
  • New modern offices
  • A contributory Pension Scheme
  • Enhanced family leave
  • Interest-free Season Ticket Loans
  • Cycle to Work Scheme
  • Free access to a confidential 24/7 helpline service with a specialist range of support and information
  • Death in Service Benefit
  • Opportunities to develop and progress your career, including an extensive programme of learning courses
  • Initial Annual Leave allowance of 28 days holiday, rising to 30 days after 3 years and 33 days after 5 years, plus bank holidays and other statutory holidays; part time employees receive a pro-rata entitlement. From April 1st the annual leave benefit will be pro rata in line with a 32-hour working week.

Additional Information:

Safer London is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, and we expect anyone who works and volunteers with us to share this commitment. As part of this commitment, we will request a DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service) check, as well as references covering the last five years, for the successful candidates.

We encourage people from all sections of our community to apply for jobs with us. We particularly welcome disabled, male and LGBTQIA+ applicants because these communities are currently under-represented in our workforce. We know that in order to make London a safer place for the young people that live here we need a diverse range of perspectives, experience, and knowledge.
