The Company
One of my very good clients based in South Wales is now looking for a BIM Technician to join their team. They continue to implement and develop our integrated building information modelling service (BIM) delivery in order to better serve their clients while continuing to drive improvements in their design quality and remain at the cutting edge of the market. They are currently looking for a BIM Modeler / Digital Engineer to bolster our team.
Reporting the group CAD/BIM Manager, you will be a key member within this multi-disciplinary and versatile team. Your skills will be instrumental in understanding and delivering high quality Building Information Models.
The Role
For allocated projects, the role will include:
Setting up new project models in accordance with project standards
Working with the Project Manager and discipline engineers to define deliverables schedules, and implementing these within the model
Supporting the project team with technical delivery using Revit
Modelling of a range of services, including but not limited to mechanical pipework, ventilation, lighting, power, containment and drainage.
Co-ordination of services using Revit and Navisworks
Attending both internal and external coordination meetings
Drawing production of modeled services.
Monitoring the quality of output
Developing digital workflows and improvements
As part of the Building Engineering group, the candidate will engage with other model managers and members of the team to support development of the group as a whole.
Requirements and skills
Essential Skills and Knowledge
Good understanding of model and drawing production using Revit MEP.
Experienced in providing technical support for Revit MEP
Experience of using Navisworks/Solibri to conduct visual audits and clash detection.
Experienced in preparation of drawings and models with limited input from engineers, using own experience to develop output from sketches provided by engineers
Knowledge of MEP systems and how services should be routed and coordinated to a design level of detail.
Ability to communicate technical issues to co-professionals, contractors and Clients.
Proven success of working in a team environment.
Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
Ability to work on multiple projects.
Qualifications & Experience
Qualifications:
BTEC HNC in Building Services Engineering or higher.
Experience within building services consultancy, including experience in the use of Revit MEP.
Desirable skills and knowledge:
Experienced in conducting model reviews.
Experience of model exchange using IFC.
An understanding of how building services are coordinated and installed to a construction level of detail.
Familiarity with industry standards including BS EN ISO 19650, PAS 1192 and BS 1192.
A range of sector experience.
Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team.
Revit Family creation and maintenance experience
Programming experience (Dynamo, Python, C++ etc)
