Bookkeeper

NXTGEN is working with a highly reputable Chartered Accountants based in Ipswich who are looking to hire an experienced Bookkeeper, to join their thriving team. As the new Bookkeeper, you'll be an integral part of their finance team, responsible for maintaining new and existing client relations by providing a top-notch bookkeeping service. You'll have the opportunity to work with a wide variety of clients, from small businesses to large corporations, and help manage their finances with ease and efficiency. This client is committed to their clients, but also their staff, by giving their staff a work life balance, internal training, individual personal development plans and quick progression routes. The successful candidate will be passionate about their work, has excellent communication and customer service skills, and is always looking for ways to improve their skills and knowledge.

What you'll get involved in?

• Provide a high quality bookkeeping service and process data for clients
• Maintain accurate accounting records using accounting software such as Sage 50 Accounts and Xero
• Manage purchase/sales ledgers
• Prepare VAT returns for clients efficiently
• Liaise with clients through phone, email, and visits
• Prepare management accounts to provide insights to clients
• Meet deadlines and address client queries efficiently

What you'll need

• Ideally you'll have worked in an accountancy practice setting, however strong experience in industry at least is essential
• AAT or equivalent qualification in bookkeeping or accounting is desirable
• Confident IT user with Xero, Sage, and Excel experience
• Positive attitude towards problem-solving
• Willingness to learn under senior staff guidance
• Excellent customer service skills, adaptable to client needs
• Strong attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Good communication skills and ability to build rapport with clients
• Willingness to take on additional responsibilities as needed and assist with other accounting tasks, such as payroll or financial reporting.
