Bookkeeper Our client has an opportunity in a Thriving Family-Run Business near Uckfield, TN22. Starting immediately Competitive salary Are you an adept bookkeeper searching for your next career move? Our family-owned company, with a strong financial foundation and a friendly work environment, is seeking a skilled and experienced bookkeeper and credit controller to enhance our team in the scenic rural setting of East Sussex. The Role: This is a full-time, office-based position where you will play a crucial role in managing our financial records. Reporting directly to the directors, and external accountants, your responsibilities will include: Maintaining accurate financial records and ledgers. Reconciling bank and credit card statements. Handling VAT and CIS returns, therefore a sound knowledge of CIS and VAT DRC is essential. Processing all day to day transactions via Xero and Hubdoc. Answering the telephone and replying to emails. Effective credit control - you will be actively chasing domestic and business customers regularly. Cashflow predictions and reporting to the directors accordingly. Paying suppliers and taxes. Supplier statement reconciliations. Other administration duties as required. Strive to ensure the business is streamlined and spot efficiencies where possible. You will ensure top-notch financial accuracy and provide valuable insights through management reports. Your Profile: AAT qualified or equivalent, backed by at least 5 years of bookkeeping experience, preferably within the construction / plumbing and heating sector. Essential: Xero certification and a strong command of Excel, Outlook and Word. Credit control experience Demonstrated consistency and growth in your previous roles. Organised, proactive, with a professional attitude. A team player, willing to contribute broadly and effectively manage various tasks. A can do attitude, willing to learn new things, research and complete tasks on own initiative. Must have your own transport due to our rural location.
