Bookkeeper

Job Title: Bookkeeper Location: Taunton Salary: £22,000 - £26,000 per annum We are seeking a qualified and experienced Bookkeeper to join our accountancy practice in Taunton. As a bookkeeper, you will predominantly be based in our Taunton office and will be responsible for a range of bookkeeping services. The ideal candidate will have previous experience in bookkeeping, VAT returns, working with a mix of clients, and knowledge of purchase and sales ledger operations. Experience in dealing with HMRC would be an advantage. Responsibilities: Perform day-to-day bookkeeping tasks Manage purchase and sales ledgers, including posting invoices, credit notes, and bills Enter data from manual records such as bank statements and invoices Conduct bank reconciliations Communicate and liaise with clients and HMRC Prepare and complete VAT returns, resolving any related queries Process client payroll Maintain accurate files and records Assist with setting up Cloud Accounting accounts for clients Support clients with any queries or issues related to cloud accounting or bookkeeping Requirements: Essential Experience: Minimum of 2 years practical (day-to-day) bookkeeping experience for a range of clients Exposure to VAT returns for a range of clients Proven experience in managing purchase and sales ledgers Experience in data entry from manual records Proficient in bank reconciliation and preparing/completing VAT returns Essential Requirements: Eligible to work in the UK Logical and well-organized approach to work Strong problem-solving skills Proficient in various accounting software packages Keen attention to detail Ability to work effectively in both a team and independent setting Excellent written and verbal communication skills Desirable Experience: Experience in liaising with clients and HMRC Processing client payroll Setting up Cloud Accounting accounts, etc. Benefits: Competitive salary with regular salary reviews Starting annual leave entitlement of 21 days plus bank holidays Private medical cover upon completion of a probationary period Company pension scheme Hybrid working available (subject to qualifying criteria) Free on-site parking Sick pay Cycle-to-work scheme At our company, we prioritize the well-being of our employees and consider ourselves a mindful employer.
