Branch Manager – Hemel Hempstead - £45,000
CVA is one of the leading auction houses in the UK, whilst predominantly known for being the most established HGV auctioneers in the country, they sell a wide range of assets across their regular sales programme that includes trucks & trailers, cars & vans, plant & machinery as well as holding several onsite retirement / dispersal sales each year. They are widely regarded as being at the front of industry innovation, representing a broad portfolio of clients ranging from owner operators and small businesses, though too some of Europe’s largest blue-chip companies, banks & finance houses.
CVA are now looking for a Branch Manager to join their established team in Hemel Hempstead.
Your Responsibilities as Branch Manager:
Management, leadership and commercial development of the Hemel Hempstead branch of CVA. Assisting the General Manager to increase profit and achieve specific objectives in terms of increased sales, increased service levels, cost reduction, asset utilisation and productivity through the effective management of employees and resources. Undertake day to day responsibility for shaping the company’s activities in the ‘CVA London’ location and the promotion and development of said activities and underpin its success through hands on managerial leadership.
Health & Safety:
- Embrace, promote and develop in conjunction with H&S the “safety first” behaviors expected of management and staff, ensuring operational procedures, equipment and processes are designed to provide a safe working environment and a protected environment for customers, suppliers and the general public
- Ensure team operations, are conducted in a manner which fully complies with CVA’s stated H&S, Quality, Environmental and corporate policies.
Role Specific:
- To communicate, lead, motivate and inspire the team toward the common goal
- Ensure the team, through regular briefings and consultations, plays a full role within the context of the site and business to facilitate optimal performance ensuring we have the right team members in the right roles to achieve the common purpose
- Maintain communication with all internal and intergroup departments to ensure business priorities and shortfalls are addressed in a timely manner
- Communicate company philosophy, policies, procedures, and expectations to the team
- Review and monitor compliance, managing the team toward designated targets
- Optimising profitability whilst meeting, and exceeding, the expectations of the market.
- Assist the General Manager to develop the business further. CVA is already a proactive, forward thinking auction business. We want to go to the next level and to be one of the top three market leaders in the next five years.
- In the drive towards this end manage the customer and vendor business strategies, optimising on internal efficiencies where possible.
- Assist the General Manager to further develop the proactive operational structure, developing and improving upon operational communication flows internally and externally incorporating all modes of communication including print and virtual media.
- Improve upon and develop internal and external operational relationships including operational reviews, group partner meetings, commercial integration and customer service reviews including direct interface with customers.
- The above list is not an exhaustive list of duties and the postholder will be expected to perform different tasks as necessitated by their changing role and overall business objectives in the organisaiton.
- Business retention from a portfolio of key account customers.
- New business generation to your portfolio.
- Target product specific buyers to enhance hammer prices on auction days.
- Cross sell CVA’s services such as valeting, video inspections, transport, etc.
The Ideal Branch Manager:
- Experience of managing and supervising work areas and the safe and efficient delivery of work
- Knowledge of resource and work organisation / planning processes and systems
- Confident and resourceful in the face of challenges
- Knowledge of relevant standards, procedures and instructions
- Strong knowledge of vehicle specifications and vehicle values
- Outstanding communication and organisational skills
- Relevant academic qualifications or vocational skills could include: formal leadership training, continuous improvement, problem solving and relevant technical experience.
- The ability to work under pressure and to tight timescales
- A flexible approach to working hours is required to meet the needs of the business, which are driven by the auctions
