HSCNI has developed and procured many different solutions to provide digital services to our health and social care professionals. Many of these systems, such as the Patient Administration System (PAS), are old, no longer fit-for-purpose in modern healthcare organisations and no longer being supported by the supplier. There is a need to urgently replace these systems. These health and care systems exist in unconnected care silos and some processes are still performed manually, such as Prescribing, care noting and service & diagnostic ordering. The Northern Ireland Electronic Care Record (NIECR) successfully created a view of myriad silo systems which began the transformation journey. However, the underlying, disconnected systems are persisted - making the development of holistic, multidisciplinary, regional health and care solutions very difficult. .
