The Division
Under the leadership of the Director of Business Development & Marketing (BD & M), the department provides a broad range of support to the wider firm across Business Development, Bids, Marketing, Communications and Events, comprising 15 members in total.
The Role and Responsibilities
This is a really varied role in a highly regarded Business Development and marketing team. This role is a great opportunity to work on a diverse range of projects with exposure to all sectors that the firm works in.
The successful candidate will predominately work closely with BD Managers and a senior BD Executive as well as with the wider BD team, consultants (internal and external) and partners across the business. The principal aims of this role are to:
- Ensure the operational delivery of a first class BD and marketing service to the Partnership, including the delivery of a busy events programme;
- Assist to develop and manage client development plans for our sectors;
- Assist to develop a national and market leading profile for Capsticks in its chosen sectors.
The role will assume responsibility for the following key areas:
Business Development
- Supporting the BDMs to develop sector and client plans, delivering those plans and bringing to market new business lines and products
- Supporting the BDMs to implement initiatives to source new business
- Building relationships with external partners to develop the brand and services
- Working with sector teams to ensure Client information is captured within the firm's CRM system, One Place and that we get the most out of the system
- Attending sector meetings, coordinating actions agreed and assisting the BDMs to achieve progress
- Working alongside the marketing team to manage sector campaigns, for example surveys, event roundtables and research studies
- Working with the Director of BD & M to deliver firm-wide Business Development initiatives, such as the Client survey programme
- Leading on competitor research to assess market activity, key messages and level of profile raising
- With key industry contacts, publications, websites and other external bodies
- Managing the firm's CVs, ensuring new joiners have one and updating others
- Preparing submissions for firm league tables, for example The Lawyer UK top 200
OnePlace
- Being a champion for One Place and demonstrating its value to other users whenever possible
- Supporting the Senior CRM Executive to keep the database as focused and up-to-date as possible, including GDPR compliant data cleansing and renewal of bought data
- Helping to implement best practice in the use of the system
- Building new mailing lists where required
Legal directories
- With support from the Communications Coordinator and a Senior BD Executive, assisting with the production of the firm's directory submissions, including managing partner contributions to deadlines and liaising with journalists to set up interviews
Other duties
Any other duties as reasonably requested by either the Marketing & BD Managers or the Director of BD & M, such as providing support on a wide range of projects and contributing to the general smooth running of the office.
Skills and Experience
The successful candidate is likely to be an existing Business Development Executive or experienced PA, within a professional services environment - and should have:-
- Some experience as a Business Development Executive or Assistant
- A team player who thrives on being part of a dynamic team
- Competency in the use of all Microsoft Office Suite applications
- The ability to update and maintain a variety of internal databases
- Excellent verbal, presentation and written communication skills with an ability to engage at all levels
- The ability to communicate professionally at all levels within the firm and when representing the firm externally
- Excellent time-management skills with the ability to prioritise tasks, and handle last minute changes
- Excellent attention to detail and problem solving skills
