An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and commercially savvy Business Development Manager to join our Exhibitions Sales New Business team.
The team is responsible for dealing with every new exhibition idea, opportunity and prospect at the NEC, from first conversation to negotiating the final agreement. This role will contribute to this through proactive and reactive sales activity.
Our customers range from entrepreneurs with no event experience to the largest multinational event organisers, and the sales process can take anything from a few weeks to several years. This role therefore requires a consultative approach and the ability to sell and negotiate at all levels with credibility.
The successful candidate will:
- Have strong sales, negotiation and presentation skills, with a proven track record of achieving sales success in a similar industry or commercial environment.
- Have tenacity and drive to seek new business and meet or exceed targets.
- Be dynamic and forward thinking with the ability to maximise revenue opportunities and be creative in problem solving.
- Have the ability to communicate effectively at all levels and adapt their style to their audience. This includes discussing complex concepts clearly, establish consensus and attaining agreement.
- Ideally have a solid understanding of the exhibitions and events industry (but this is not essential)
