This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate Business Development Manager, to join a market leading organisation looking to build a global brand.
As a Business Development Manager, you will play a pivotal role in achieving the company's growth objectives. Your primary responsibilities will revolve around managing and expanding key customer accounts, acquiring new strategic accounts, and developing an overall marketing strategy to enhance the brand's presence in the market. The role reports into the sales director and be responsible for a small team of internal sales and customer services.
You will likely have product sales experience ideally working for a manufacturer and will have a knowledge of some of the target markets including height safety, commercial marine, renewable energy, and the defence sector. If this knowledge is missing, then the role will require a technical/mechanical bias aligned to industry.

Key Responsibilities of the Business Development Manager:
- Take ownership of assigned customer base, ensuring the achievement of sales targets.
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key customers, both within the UK and overseas (Predominantly Europe)
- Develop and implement effective account management plans, both independently and through collaboration with the team.
- Collaborate with the marketing team to promote the brand through trade customers.
- Collaborate with the marketing team to identify and convert key target accounts in line with the overall strategy.
- Develop and manage a robust new business sales pipeline.
- Qualify potential leads in accordance with the company's sales methodology.
- Drive opportunities through the sales cycle, from initial contact to sales visits and quotations.
- Work closely with the Sales Manager/Director to successfully close all identified opportunities.
- Contribute to the development of a marketing strategy that aligns with the individual market needs.
- Ensure the integration of marketing initiatives with sales activities to maximize brand exposure and revenue generation.
Skills & Experience Required:
- Willingness to travel within the UK and internationally, demonstrating flexibility as required.
- Exceptional ability to establish and nurture relationships naturally and efficiently.
- Adopts a systematic approach to sales and account management.
- Possess an in-depth understanding of customer sales processes.
- Excellent phone manner and communication skills, proficient IT skills, including CRM, Excel, Word, Outlook.
- Proven experience in Business Development, account management, and sales.
- Experience in working with marketing teams to target industry sectors and develop strategies.
- Previous experience in managing internal sales teams.
- Demonstrated success in achieving and exceeding sales targets with industrial sectors.
- Previous experience working in sales within a manufacturer.
