Derbyshire County Council, Environment & Transport department is seeking to recruit a highly motivated Business Services Assistant to work in the County Transport, (Fleet Services) Admin Team.
You will be required to perform a variety of administrative duties relating to the operation of the department’s road transport fleet including managing the central email inbox, raising purchase orders, preparation and analysis of management information, administration of the Council’s Motor Insurance Database, Accident & Insurance claims database maintenance, processing supplier invoices, purchasing of the fleet’s Road Fund Licences, reconciling income as well as other fleet administration related tasks.
The successful applicant will hold a NVQ level 2 in Business Administration or equivalent and must have experience in previous administrative roles, ideally in a transport environment. You will have well-developed IT skills and an excellent working knowledge of the Microsoft Suite - especially Excel as the ability to produce and work with spreadsheets is essential. Experience of Fleet Management software and other bespoke software is a distinct advantage.
The successful applicant will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and be capable of dealing with contacts at all levels with other Council departments, elected members, internal and external customers and members of the public. Applicants must be able to work as part of a team and have a strong customer focus. You will be required to use your initiative and to work unsupervised once trained.
You must be highly organised, flexible and adaptable to change, have excellent planning skills and be able to set and achieve targets through regular performance review. Delivering performance through the departmental Quality Management System is essential and the successful applicant will have a collective responsibility to ensure standards continue to be exceeded and for supporting areas of weakness as and when required.
Strong commercial awareness is highly desirable as the Council continues its programme of achieving value for money through the effective utilisation of assets and as part of our Enterprising Council programme of initiatives.
The ability to speak fluent English in order to be able to communicate fully in the role with clients/the public is essential in this role.
The successful applicant will be required to undertake and pass a Police check known as NPPV2. Failure to do so will mean the successful applicant would not be able to be appointed to or continue in this role.
