The Finance service in Camden has an ambitious vision to ensure consistent delivery of a high-quality, value-added service with excellent financial controls. We will do this through an exciting journey of continuous improvement, change, challenge, and innovation. To be successful we’ll need to constantly adapt to meet the needs of the organisation. The first phase will realign and increase the capacity of the Finance department, so Camden will be recruiting a number of finance roles over the coming months.
The Capital Strategy Advisor leads on the development and maintenance of the council’s 10-year Capital Strategy. This includes the identification of new resources and the production of capital resource projections that enable the post holder to take a lead in driving and coordinating the funding of the council’s Capital Strategy. Some of the key responsibilities will include.
- Ensuring the funding for the Council’s Capital Strategy is identified and properly accounted
- Developing and implementing strategies to improve capital financial management Leading the coordination of the annual capital budget setting and closing process
- Minimising risks by ensuing programmes are effectively monitored and modelled
- Reporting to senior stakeholders on capital resources, existing and new funding options, and development in the programme
To be suitable for the role you need to be a qualified accountant with excellent communications skills and extensive experience of capital financial planning and management in a large complex organisation. An understanding of the technical aspects of capital is also essential.
