Casual Learning Facilitator - The D-Day Story
Salary: approximately £14 per hour
Hours: This is a casual post - there are no set hours - you will be asked to work as and when needed.
2024 marks the 80th anniversary of D-Day and The D-Day Story is planning an ambitious and engaging programme of events and activities including the expansion of the museum's formal education programme.
The D-Day Story is the only UK museum dedicated to telling the events of 6th June 1944, the largest seaborne invasion in history which marked the beginning of the end of the Second World War. Extensively redeveloped in 2018 the museum includes access on board LCT 7074, the last surviving landing craft tank which carried up to 10 tanks during the Normandy landings and the impressive 83 metre Overlord Embroidery.
The current focus of the museum's education programme is the Key Stage 2 history workshops 'Life in Second World War Britain'. Workshops are delivered at the museum and engage pupils (and teachers!) through the use of artefacts, archives, dressing-up and role play. There are also plans to further develop the education programme in the future.
