The British Library is embarking on a period of exciting transformation, with high profile capital projects, ambitious digital programmes and initiatives to grow and diversify our audience. We are looking for a Chief Accountant to put finance at the heart of decision making and provide comprehensive, efficient and effective financial services to the Library. This will include financial & management accounting, treasury & cash management and accounts payable & receivable functions.
The role will ensure that the Library's Annual Report and Accounts is produced within the Statutory reporting defined timescales and in accordance with appropriate mandatory requirements such as Charity Accounting, H.M Treasury directives and International Accounting Standards.
You will be a senior finance professional (CCAB qualified) with substantial knowledge of financial management and its application to the business as well as corporate strategy.
You will also have excellent leadership, management and communication skills given the wide scope of the role and the diverse range of both internal and external contacts. The ability to develop and motivate a professionally qualified team engaged in significant processing and technical activities is essential. As well as an innovative and proactive approach to exploiting change opportunities and promoting best practice.
