Based in Berkhamsted, Hertfordshire, MRK Associates is exclusively working with this highly regarded charity who are looking for a qualified accountant to join the organisation as Chief Finance & Admin Officer on a permanent basis.

This job would suit a qualified ACA, ACCA or CIMA Finance Director to play a crucial strategic and operational role in the implementation of a strong five-year business plan. This role will lead the development of the finance function, oversee outsourced HR and IT providers, and ensure the organisation's financial, operational, and administrative systems are robust and compliant.

Our client is a highly successful charity that has gone from strength to strength since Covid, remaining operational during this time, resulting in significant contracts being offered to them since. They have multiple sites within Hertfordshire and have plans to grow further afield in the future.

A strong cash reserve with growing turnover, and future contracts in the pipeline, this is a great time to take on this leadership role overseeing Finance, IT, Estates, and HR.

The successful individual will be ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified with a proven track record of holding a Finance Director/ No.1 finance position ideally having run other departments as well - IT and HR particularly. Understanding of charity governance, company law, data protection, and regulations applicable to charities would be desirable but isn't essential.

Job responsibilities:

  • Oversee and be responsible for strategic business planning and financial modelling over the mid and long-term to support the delivery of the strategy.
  • Act as the principal financial and compliance advisor to the Board, CEO, and Senior Management Team.
  • Track cashflow, manage financial reserves, and implement treasury and risk management strategies.
  • Contribute to decision-making on investments, reserves and the management of financial strategy and risks, to ensure long term financial sustainability.
  • Monitor, oversee and develop plans to maximise financial viability of the charities' activities.
  • Manage the production of financial information for the Board and Finance and Risk register.
  • Lead the organisational audit ensuring compliance with statutory requirements.
  • Oversee all administrative functions, policies and procedures.
  • Manage outsourced HR and IT functions, ensuring quality delivery and value-for-money.
  • Oversee day to day HR functions and identify areas for improvements.
