Cleaning Manager Job Purpose:
- Reporting to the Facilities Manager, the key role of the Cleaning Manager will be providing operational management support of the cleaning services across all the schools and direct line management of the cleaning supervisors and cleaning staff.

- Leadership and management of the schools cleaning teams making sure the most effective and efficient delivery of service is achieved.
- To assist the Facilities Manager in budgetary preparation and the planning and development of the cleaning team
- To manage the schools cleaning specifications and to manage and coordinate cleaning requests and deep cleaning schedules.
- To coordinate the work of the cleaning supervisors and cleaning teams, making day to day decisions
- To ensure that all the cleaning staff rotas and shifts are in place and arrange any holiday or absence cover with an external agency when required.
- To undertake the recruitment, induction, return to work, appraisals, and performance management of the cleaning staff.
- Keeping records updated for performance, holidays, attendance, and sickness for the HR team.
- To ensure that a training programme of staff development and training is in place for the cleaning team and records are kept updated.
- To have regular team and individual meetings are held with the Cleaning Supervisors
- To manage stock control digitally and making sure there is enough cleaning materials and that they are monitored and audited regularly.
- To instil a proactive approach in all cleaning staff regarding site and personal safety and raising any concerns to the Facilities Manager
- Undertaking regular cleaning inspection of all the buildings and digitally documented and reported back to the Cleaning Supervisors for immediate action.
- Ensure that risk assessments and COSHH documentation is in place and accessible to all the cleaning staff and recorded for all cleaning materials used and stocked.
- To ensure all staff always follow the relevant Health and safety policies and procedures.
Cleaning Manager Essential Requirements:
- BICS Qualification or equivalent
- The ideal candidate will be a confident communicator with confident professional and approachable manner and have at least 2 years experience leading and managing large/multi sites cleaning teams, including those with more than 30 cleaning staff, within a school environment and have good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Word and Excel and internal databases.
- Looking for someone that is organised and works well under pressure and has good interpersonal skills and can take ownership and work independently and have a flexible attitude to hours.
- Experience at working at height, COSHH, Fire Asbestos, risk assessment regulations and policies.
- Commissioning and reviewing building surveys.
- Excellent people management and communication skills required with all formats to achieve high standards.
- Exceptional communication skills via all formats and a track record of excellent people management skills to achieve the high standards required for the schools.
Cleaning Manager Desirable Requirements:
- Experience with compliance inspections auditing and reporting.
- Experience of budgetary control
- Clear understanding and knowledge of buildings related compliance
