Commercial Manager
Salary Negotiable (depending on experience)
Key tasks and responsibilities include:
- Working as a Commercial Manager as part of a close team reporting to the Managing Director whilst providing a cost consulting role to clients
- Ensure the client achieves their stated objectives through close teamwork, proactive cost control and the provision of contractual advice
- Attend and/or chair meetings with clients
- Prepare financial reports
- Monitor the communication of a project status
- Preparing full tender documentation for multiple projects
- Provide advice on contractors, specialists, procurement routes, cost and programme solutions
- Provide advice on suitability and preparation of contract documents
- Prepare management reports
- Monitor performance milestones and deliverables
- Administer cost/variation procedures
- Carry out full post contract surveying duties including establishing the effect of variations, settlement of accounts and disputes
- Provide day-to-day cost management of projects from estimate preparation through to final account settlements
- Provide mentorship and advice to junior members of staff within the office
Desired qualifications and experience for Commercial Manager:
- A relevant degree or masters qualification in Quantity Surveying or similar equivalent subject
- 10 years Quantity Surveying/cost consulting/ managing
- Experience of working on projects in the build environment is desired - i.e. commercial, residential, education, healthcare etc.
- Expert Trade Knowledge / construction knowledge specifically to groundworks, carpentry and General Building.
- Excellent knowledge of common forms of contract such as JCT and NEC
- Experience in managing adjudication processes
- RICs accreditation
- Demonstrable experience of carrying out tendering and procurement processes
- Familiar with working on multiple projects concurrently
- Strong client facing skills
