Job description
Venesky-Brown’s client, a public sector organisation in Edinburgh, is currently looking to recruit a Communications and Marketing Officer until the end of April 2024 with potential to extend on a rate of £200-£250/day (Inside IR35). This role will be based hybrid working.
Responsibilities:
- Designing and creating physical marketing assets (banners, leaflets brochures etc.)
- Bespoke creation of media assets for social media channels and website etc. as required
- Familiarity with photography, filming and editing of videos
- Create, develop and edit high quality copy for a wide range of channels.
- Produce news articles, blogs, interviews, events, social media, mailings and other content, as directed.
- Become familiar with and use local and the organisation’s content guidelines, ensuring that content is compliant at all times.
- Write and place paid and organic adverts for a range of activities, including for student recruitment.
- Monitor, report and suggest improvements for advertising campaigns.
- Creation of the monthly newsletter and/or sign off on final content.
- Oversight of the social media channels, including subsidiaries
- Creation of the annual social media calendar and post content in line with priorities, working with the Communications and Marketing Administrator.
- Write copy and create assets for social media.
- Create and oversee digital content on digital screens within the centre.
- Develop internal relationships to source and create content for channels.
- Managing the website and other subsidiary websites as directed by the Communications and Marketing Manager.
- Maintain and develop structure and design.
- Oversee, edit and proactively review content.
- Proactively create news and other content.
- Use reporting tools (e.g. Google Analytics) to prepare reports and make suggestions for web improvements.
- Oversee the update of the website
- Provide marketing support for in person and virtual events, as required.
- Support events with technical assistance or content production for events and virtual event platforms.
- Provide support to the Centre Events Team as required.
- Providing technical support for online platforms.
- Act as a brand champion for the Centre.
- Develop the Centre and other associated brands, under guidance from the Communications and Marketing Manager.
- Proactively identifying ways to expand marketing opportunities for the Centre and associated projects
- Other administrative duties from time to time as directed
Essential Skills:
- A University degree in a relevant subject plus typically 3+ years’ experience/or extensive communications, staff and stakeholder engagement experience over a longer period or a broad experience (typically a minimum of 5 years), acquired through a combination of job related training and considerable on-the-job experience, demonstrating development through involvement in progressively more demanding relevant work/roles
- A confident user of IT; website content management systems, (e.g. Drupal), SharePoint, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Proficient user of Adobe creative cloud and InDesign software
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Experience of coordinating marketing for large events.
- Evidence of team working, working collaboratively with colleagues, business partners and key stakeholders.
- Experience of graphic design and ability to create assets.
- Experience of developing effective relationships and establishing trust with colleagues and stakeholders.
- Ability to deliver effective presentations to senior members of staff.
- Familiarity with use of marketing and branding tools/techniques in a professional/business environment
- Ability to influence, the post-holder will be able guide and appropriately challenge senior colleagues and stakeholders.
- Capable of resolving unforeseen problems, and working independently, often under challenging circumstances and to tight deadlines
Desirable Skills:
- Knowledge of .css
- Experience of working in the technology and related sectors.
- Knowledge of the Data-Driven Innovation Programme, and City Region Deal objectives.
- Previous use of virtual events platforms such as 6Connex or EventsAir
