Compliance Manager
Job Description:
Our client, a successful asset management firm, has an exciting permanent opportunity for a Compliance Manager based in their Edinburgh office.
The successful candidate will be part of a well-established team and will take on a broad role supporting the Chief Compliance Officer and Head of Risk to ensure the firm meets regulatory and policy requirements.
Some of the other key responsibilities will include assisting in the development and maintenance of the Compliance Testing Program.
Essential Skills/Experience:
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Minimum of three years' experience of compliance testing in a compliance function within either a UK or US asset manager.
- Ability to self-motivate, work independently, and use initiative.
- Ability to meet deadlines whilst maintaining close attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritise effectively, and deliver high quality work.
- Good negotiation skills and ability to act with discretion and integrity.
- Ability to analyse regulations.
- Team player with strong organisational and interpersonal skills.
- Good written and oral communication skills.
- Educated to degree level or relevant industry experience.
Core Responsibilities:
- Assist in developing and promoting a culture of compliance within the firm.
- Develop and maintain relationships internally within the Risk & Compliance team, with senior management and with staff in all other areas; and externally with a variety of third parties as appropriate.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of the Compliance Testing Program, ensuring compliance testing activities are completed in accordance with the required framework and methodology.
- Conduct ongoing compliance monitoring of processes and procedures covering various business functions.
- Proactively manage compliance issues to completion.
- Collect and collate management information for periodic reports presentable to senior management and governance committees.
- Assist with scheduled and ad-hoc risk assessments.
- Create, maintain, and enhance policies and procedures.
- Provide compliance advisory services and expertise to the business in respect of existing and new regulatory requirements impacting the activities of the firm.
- Oversight responsibilities in relation to employee compliance with the Code of Ethics, including aspects such as personal securities trading, gifts & entertainment, and outside business interests.
