Compliance and Data Manager
Core - Asset are working on an exciting permanent role for a Compliance and Data Manager to join a boutique law firm in Edinburgh.
This is a new role in the firm and some of your key responsibilities will include managing the firm's processes and procedures, for ensuring compliance with firmwide policies as well as establishing a solid foundation for data management, ensuring that data is organised, accessible, secure, and aligned with business objectives.
You will also be responsible for managing a small team.
The successful candidate will be experienced in AML, Data Management and Staff Management.
Essential Skills/Experience:
- Strong operational depth of experience in AML and GDPR compliance preferably within a law firm/professional services environment.
- In depth knowledge and experience of compliance with all applicable UK AML, CFT, GDPR and sanctions legislation.
- Experience in managing contracts.
- Strong experience in managing people with confidence.
- Ability to build and motivate teams.
- Positive attitude with an ability to take the initiative and be pro-active as well as reactive.
- Highly organised and ability to prioritise tasks.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, both written and oral.
- Ability to work under pressure and to deadlines.
- High level of accuracy, problem-solving ability, and attention to detail.
- Approachable and able to build strong working relationships throughout the firm at all levels, to promote an excellent compliance culture.
- Good IT skills to include Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel (with the ability to manipulate data on Excel).
Core Responsibilities:
- Responsible for drafting the Firmwide Risk assessment and AML certificate content required by the Law Society of Scotland for MLRO review and approval.
- Regular compliance reviews to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements.
- Overseeing the implementation of any recommendations resulting from compliance reviews.
- Development and implementation of policies and procedures, alongside external compliance consultants.
- Providing guidance to staff on compliance matters and interpretation of the policies.
- Implementing a programme of inhouse compliance training (including external training modules).
- Staying abreast of industry changes and assisting with the updating of policies internally.
- Review current data management and protection policies and processes, looking for improvements whilst driving efficiency.
- Monitoring and promoting compliance with respect to internal and external data policies and standards.
- Manage subject access requests and other data requests.
- Advise staff on Data Protection and PEC regulations and provide relevant training.
- Carry out Data Protection risk assessments and audits.
