The Risk, Compliance & Governance function is responsible for ensuring that BDUK is compliant with all relevant legislation, policies and regulations, and managing a compliance strategy which supports the achievement of BDUK’s overarching objectives. This includes both compliance activities related to the execution of external BDUK interventions (e.g. compliance with State Aid regulations) as well as overarching oversight of internal assurance activities (e.g. compliance with employment legislation), aligned with wider DCMS / government processes. The function is also responsible for ensuring that BDUK is not subject to any fraudulent activity.
As a Compliance Officer you will be a first point of contact for potential compliance issues. Providing support in instances where exceptions arise during the lifecycle of BDUK programmes. This could involve responding to queries, escalating issues, and investigating anomalies. You will need to be able to proactively manage a caseload of queries/ issues, be able to support the efficient delivery and operation of the voucher scheme, and have the ability to solve problems in a logical and consistent way.
- Responsible for managing referrals received regarding potential supplier non-compliance and suspected fraud.
- Use scheme data to scrutinize anomalies and draw sound conclusions on the source of an issue.
- Engage with key internal and external stakeholders that raise exceptions (e.g. suppliers / local bodies), providing a point of contact within BDUK throughout the end-to-end query and exception process.
- Presenting recommendations with evidence on regular basis to the team.
- Managing data entry and record keeping of all new reports of non-compliance activities.
- Providing compliance advice to suppliers and BDUK colleagues where such instances arise.
- Efficiently manage a workstack of exception and queries, taking into accountpriorities and relevant SLAs/KPIs.
- Escalate and proactively monitor the resolution of issues according to BDUK processes and policies.
- Build and maintain relationships with suppliers and BDUK colleagues in order tofoster productive working relationships and the effective resolution of issues.
- Contribute to the efficient and effective operation of the scheme by working proactively with the Compliance Investigations Lead to continuously improve service delivery, taking advantage of opportunities such as process improvement and automation where relevant.
