ASSISTANT QS - Due to continued growth our client is currently recruiting for an experienced and dynamic Assistant QS to join our client, a property services and solutions company based in Birmingham.
The Project
As the successful candidate, you will be working on a £40m local authority contract.
You will assist the Managing Quantity Surveyor supporting the delivery of a large capital works programme, where our client is responsible for enhancements to properties, including: Bathrooms, Kitchens, Gas Boilers, Doors, Windows and Roofs, which will involve engaging with tenants and offering support to the Site Team in their duties.
Key duties and responsibilities:
• Assisting with ensuring projects are delivered within budget and to the highest quality, exceeding customer expectations.
• Working closely with the project team and senior commercial staff to ensure budgeted targets are met.
• Establish strong working relationships with supply chain, consultants, and customers. • Assisting and supporting in accurately valuing, certifying and issuing payment notices for supply chain partners in accordance with contract arrangement.
• Helping to ensure external valuations are submitted in accordance with conditions of the main contract and that payments are received by the due date.
• Helping to complete cost value comparison reports that accurately reflect the current position on site and the final projection.
• Assisting with identifying any potential disputes in a timely manner and enable introduction of effective solutions.
Essential And Desirable Criteria
Essential criteria:
• Demonstrable experience working as a Contract Administrator/Assistant QS
• Excellent numeracy and organisation skills
• QS degree or equivalent training
• Excellent IT knowledge including a high level of Excel skills (incl. V-Lookup, Pivot tables and formula development)
• Contractual awareness
• Negotiating and communication skills
• Experience of Management Accounts
Desired criteria:
• Previous experience of domestic property capital works
• Experience of working for a social housing client
• Knowledge of NHF SOR codes
