Salary: £23,087 - £23,388 per year
Hours: 30 per week

Drylaw is a residential house for seven young people. We aim to provide positive and safe experiences for all young people through nurturing care, respect, connection and wrap around education that is individualised and promotes young people's mental and emotional well-being. Future positive outcomes are a crucial focus to supporting vulnerable young people. The role of Cook is vital in contributing to the creation of a nurturing and homely environment for the young people and the ethos of Drylaw.

This is an exciting time to join the team as we continue to build on our strong models of care. We are seeking a child centred, resilient, and motivated individual to take on the role of cook for the house. The successful candidate will have previous experience as a cook and be able to communicate with staff and young people to find out food preferences and dietary requirements. The candidate must be able to contribute to creating a homely environment by providing nutritious home cooked meals and home baking. They must also be able to menu plan, create shopping lists and shop for stock if and when required.

You should have City & Guilds or equivalent in Culinary Skills and hold a food hygiene certificate.

This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check.  Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. An unconditional offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.

Our salary range typically reflects the initial starting salary and annually increases until it reaches the top of the range.
