We are currently seeking a dedicated Catering Assistant to lead the kitchen operations and ensure the provision of nutritious meals for our students. Job Description: As the Catering Assistant (Head of the Kitchen), you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the school kitchen, cooking meals for approximately 130 children. Working alongside two other members of staff, you will play a key role in maintaining high standards of food hygiene and quality. Responsibilities: Plan and prepare nutritious meals for school children, adhering to dietary requirements and nutritional guidelines. Place weekly orders for the preparation of children's meals, ensuring sufficient stock levels are maintained. Supervise and coordinate the work of kitchen staff, delegating tasks as necessary to ensure efficient workflow. Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards in the kitchen, following health and safety regulations. Monitor food temperatures and storage conditions to prevent food spoilage and contamination. Assist with menu planning and recipe development, taking into account feedback from students and staff. Requirements: Valid DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check is required. Level 2 Food Hygiene course certification is preferred, but training can be provided for the right candidate. Previous experience in a catering or kitchen environment is desirable. Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
