The Opportunity
The EDF Research & Development (R&D) UK Centre is an integral part of the Group R&D network and is responsible for leading research and development activities in the UK, right across EDF, enabling us to be ready for the challenges that lie ahead. The team are advancing research in the fields of Nuclear, Offshore Wind, Energy Systems, Flexibility & Storage, Zero Emissions Mobility and Smart Digital Technologies.
We’re looking for a talented Research Engineer to join the R&D Renewables team and get involved in cutting-edge research related to investment modelling for renewables projects with an emphasis on offshore wind.

What you’ll be doing
As a Research Engineer, you will be required to identify, coordinate, and participate in collaborative research projects with UK and international academics and/or industrial partners in support of the needs of the different global Renewables Business units, in an offshore wind context.
You will be driving the development of internal financial modelling tools whilst challenging the hypothesis with external models and ensuring requirements from stakeholders across EDF Group are considered. The interdisciplinary nature and wide scope of the role will provide excellent opportunities for career advancement, personal development, and networking within the wider global EDF Group. You will be contributing to the probability assessments for the pipeline of offshore wind projects currently in development.
Who you are
We are looking for somebody with enthusiasm for developing scientific, applied financial or economic modelling in a research context with the ability to translate key company needs and requirements into opportunities for research and analysis initiatives.
You will be providing support to the innovation activities on offshore wind renewables investment modelling, and therefore you will have a proven track record in financial modelling, economics, and statistical techniques – ideally within an energy context.
You will demonstrate strong coding skills, specifically in Python (preferred) and/or Matlab.
