Job Title: Counsellor - Domestic Abuse/Mental Health Reporting to: Project Co-ordinator/Operational Manager Hours: 37.5 hours each (we are open to job share, with a minimum commitment of three days) Salary: GBP26,000 - GBP30,450 (including Outer London Weighting) for Full Time Equivalent (37.5hrs) Location: North and West London including Harrow, Brent, Hounslow, Hillingdon, & Ealing Qualifications: Recognised counselling qualification and registration with appropriate professional body (e.g. BACP, UKCP) Contract: Subject to funding We are looking for qualified counsellors who are skilled in their practice and compassionate about making a difference to people's lives to help them recover from the impact of mental health, trauma and domestic abuse. EACH provides a range of specialist services to individuals and families affected by mental health, domestic violence and alcohol and substance misuse issues, with a diverse team.
Successful post holders will be responsible for providing one to one emotional support, structured counselling and group work where required as part of one or more of the
following:
Domestic Violence counselling services to support women and girls (11+) experiencing/have experienced domestic violence and abuse, including to BAME women and girls - these roles are female only ( S. 7(2) (e) of the Sex Discrimination Act 1975 applies to this post) Mental health services to support Asylum seekers and or clients who have experienced trauma relating to migration and their first language is not English Your Key Duties:
To access, assess, engage, provide structured counselling and group work within the above services to achieve positive outcomes for clients To contribute to the overall activities and success of EACH's services To establish good working relationships within the local partnerships and promote the service to both professionals and local communities To support volunteer and trainee counsellors jointly with other projects and EACH staff Work collaboratively within EACH and with our partners You Will Need:
A recognised counselling Qualification (minimum diploma level or equivalent) and registration with a professional governing body, e.g. BACP, NCPS, UKCP Experience of counselling and supporting members of BAME communities affected by mental health and/or domestic violence and abuse and/or substance misuse Ability to engage clients, conduct counselling and support in a relevant community language, e.g. Farsi, Pashto, Dari, Arabic for asylum seekers and Urdu, Hindi, Punjabi, Gujarati, Tamil, Somali, Polish for the domestic abuse services Knowledge of the issues and barriers faced by members from BAME communities Knowledge and understanding of mental health and/or domestic abuse Ability to work flexibly, including off-site in satellites/community settings, evenings/weekends, provide phone/digital based sessions where needed Closing Date: 28th January 2024

All interviews will be held in person.
We are currently working in a blended way with office-based working and remotely, and expect successful candidates to be able to work from home safely.
