The Role

As a Cybernetics Technician Apprentice, you will play a pivotal role in supporting RACE (Remote Applications in Challenging Environments) projects. This could include the following:
- Testing and commissioning of control equipment and software for remote handling systems.
- Maintenance of existing equipment.
- Supporting with fault finding, resolution
- Recording of testing, commissioning and maintenance performed.
This role involves working with UKAEA/RACE engineers and technicians to complete assigned taskings. Assisting and performing testing, commissioning, installation, and maintenance tasks on remote handling systems. You will work with UKAEA-RACE engineers in projects to maintain, design, operate and repair control systems. You will assist with and perform installation and maintenance tasks to ensure the effective operation of various control equipment.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Complete national academic qualification as defined by the apprenticeship training standard: Automation and controls engineering technician / Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education
- Attend designated training provider, develop and attain a good knowledge of procurement skills.
- Represent the UKAEA Organisation and attend external outreach and careers events.
