The Data Management Hub is growing rapidly. Our Division has developed the Bank's Data Strategy, and we are now tasked to own and be responsible for key elements of its implementation.
Job description
Reliable, well-handled and well governed data is critical to the Bank of England in order to achieve its overall mission. The role of a Data Governance Consultant provides the opportunity to be part of the team that will lead the roll out, and implementation of the Bank’s Data Management Policy and best practices.
Role Requirements
The purpose of this role is to work with the Data Governance Manager in facilitating Data Governance excellence to achieve better business outcomes. This will be done through proactive interaction with local business areas and projects. You will advise on and support their Data Governance needs pragmatically in a way that retains flexibility for them to work towards their goals, and ensure compliance to policies.
Minimum (Essential) Requirements
- Core understanding of Data Management principles and concepts.
- Experience in supporting or leading the roll out of data management policies.
- Working knowledge of Data Catalogues, Data Lineage, Data Quality Management, Reference Data Management, Metadata Management and Master Data Management, Risk and Data Protection, Data Issue Management.
- Proven ability to understand stakeholder needs, and work with resources to convert these into compelling Data Management experiences.
- Ability to articulate the purpose and value of Data Governance/ Management to business stakeholders.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define Data Governance objectives, priorities, and initiatives.
- Facilitate Data Governance training sessions and workshops for colleagues at all levels.
- Participate in Data Governance forums and committees to drive continuous improvement and alignment with the Bank’s Data Strategy goals.
- Good understanding of GDPR and Data Privacy Impacts.
- Able to perform data risk assessments and assist in the development of risk mitigation strategies.
- Familiarity with working in a project environment with aspects of delivery responsibility.
- Understanding of Confluence and JIRA for work planning, execution and documentation.
- Data Management best-practice frameworks from professional bodies e.g. DCAM, DAMA.

Salary and Benefits Information
This specific role offers a base salary of circa £52,730 - £60,840 per annum (depending on skills and experience) on a full-time basis. We encourage flexible working, part time working and job share arrangements. Part time salary and benefits will be on a pro-rated basis as appropriate.
In addition, we also offer a comprehensive benefits package as detailed below:
- A non-contributory, career average pension giving you a guaranteed retirement benefit of 1/95th of your annual salary for every year worked. There is the option to increase your pension (to 1/50th) or decrease (to 1/120th) in exchange for salary through our flexible benefits programme each year.
- A discretionary performance award based on a current award pool.
- A 8% benefits allowance with the option to take as salary or purchase a wide range of flexible benefits.
- 26 days’ annual leave with option to buy up to 12 additional days through flexible benefits.
