Data Governance Lead
Circa £80,000 - £85,000 + benefits
Permanent
35 hours per week (with flexible and working)
Wimbledon (hybrid working)

The role

As a Data Governance Lead, you will be responsible for the Data Governance for CIPD, to ensure CIPD meets its strategic objectives. You will own the Data Governance framework for both customer and product data, driving best practices in data management across all systems and business processes.
What you’ll be doing
  • Managing and delivering an organisation wide CIPD Data Governance and Quality Programme.
  • Developing own and maintaining CIPD’s Data Governance Framework(DGF)
  • Developing targets for achievable data quality standards, and defining measures and metrics to monitor and demonstrate the business value of data quality initiatives
  • Owning and championing the integration platform, Informatica, along with the Master Data Management platform.
  • Owning the budget holder responsibility for data activity.
  • Owning of future strategy for data in new innovations (e.g. AI) and business models
  • Support the Data Platforms Manager in developing and expanding use of the MDM platform to improve data quality.
  • Leading and chairing the Strategic Data Forum, bringing together senior stakeholders from around the business to discuss data use, priorities and GDPR.
  • Managing external agencies to deliver a quality service to the business for data warehousing, MDM and Integration development.
  • Evaluating data quality risks and mitigations, in particular regarding regulatory or statutory compliance, and propose remediation plans.
  • Designing and managing the implementation of projects with a heavy data management angle, such as migration of reporting tools, new data integration systems or Master Data Management.
  • Provisioning Business Intelligence reports and dashboards to enable new visualisation opportunities and track existing actions and campaigns.
What you’ll need to be successful
  • Proven and successful track record in Data Governance and associated data management principles and practices.
  • Broad knowledge of data management methods and tools, with specific expertise in Data Governance & data quality approaches and technologies.
  • Practical working knowledge of the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR).
  • Proven project and programme management experience.
  • Experience with one or more specific data quality tools.
  • Experience with reporting tools such as PowerBI or Tableau.
  • An understanding of SQL server, and Management Studio.
  • Keen interest in Data Governance and MDM philosophies, approaches, and techniques.
  • Good communication and stakeholder management skills, including being able to demonstrate the use of various techniques depending on the audience and communicate difficult, technical concepts to a business audience in a non-technical way.
  • Exceptional relationship building, influencing and negotiating skills.
  • Ability to work in matrixed environments and to build and sustain collaborative working relationships.
