Job description

Job Purpose and Key Responsibilities

This is an excellent opportunity to take on an exciting role within the Programme and Policy Department. You will provide cross-team support on managing and improving our information and data management, programme risk and internal and external communications. Through your work with the departmental Director on KPI reporting, you will gain insight into how INGOs measure performance, improve programme quality and manage resources. The role will provide the right candidate with the opportunity to build a strong base for professional development and a future career within the development sector.

 Why work for us?

At CARE International UK we affirm the dignity, potential and contribution of participants, donors, partners, and staff. Our actions are consistent with our mission. We are honest and transparent in what we do and say and accept responsibility for our collective and individual actions. We work together effectively to serve the larger community. We constantly challenge ourselves to the highest levels of learning and performance to achieve greater impact.

The Programme and Policy Department is at the heart of CARE International UK’s work. The department works closely with CARE’s country offices around the world to deliver top-quality humanitarian and development work that helps to achieve CARE’s 2030 Vision and impact goals, in the areas of disaster relief, girls’ education and climate justice.  This role will work across the department’s four teams (Programme Funding, Programme Management, Programme Quality and Advocacy) on a range of internal initiatives and projects, with the opportunity to understand humanitarian and development issues pertaining to a global portfolio.

About you

You’ll be a motivated and enthusiastic team player, with a passion for development and humanitarian work and committed to working with us to fight against poverty and injustice. Ideal candidates will demonstrate their interest through a previous role or voluntary experience within the sector, or through study/training. You will be organised, reliable, focused and have the ability to prioritise and work independently and with colleagues across teams.  You’ll have a good level of competency with IT systems, data management and financial administration.

About CARE

CARE International is one of the world’s leading humanitarian and development charities. We fight poverty and injustice in the world’s most vulnerable places.  We save lives in disasters and conflicts. We stand with women, girls and their communities to achieve lasting change for a better future. By 2030, CARE and our partners will support 200 million people from the most vulnerable and excluded communities to overcome poverty and social injustice. We work in more than 90 countries around the world, saving lives in emergencies and finding long-term solutions to poverty for millions of people every year. We put women and girls in the centre because we know that we cannot overcome poverty until all people have equal rights and opportunities. We believe strongly that business has an important role to play in creating opportunities and reducing barriers for people living in poverty and would like to invite you to be a part of making this change happen.

Diversity and Inclusion Statement

CARE International UK is committed to creating a diverse, inclusive, respectful and safe work environment where all persons are treated fairly, with dignity and respect. We are committed to dismantling harmful and oppressive structures of power and accordingly centre gender equity in our work to save lives, fight poverty and achieve social justice. The post holder agrees to promote and uphold these principles.

CARE International UK operates fair, transparent and non-discriminatory recruitment practices and actively encourages applications from candidates from a variety of backgrounds, and with a range of skills and experiences. We are particularly interested to hear from candidates from Black and minoritised communities, LGBT+ candidates and disabled candidates.
