About the role:
Working to the Cabinet Manager and Senior Scrutiny Officer, to support the Scrutiny function of the Council, undertaking or assisting with research and or reviews with policy or strategic significance, providing the Committees and Working Groups with analysis and commenting on matters before it; by contributing to the effective development of policy, partnership working and performance management; leading or assisting with investigations undertaken by the Scrutiny Committees, Audit Committee and Working Groups.
About you:
You will need:
- The ability to communicate ideas and issues effectively to a wide range of individuals and groups.
- An understanding of working in a political environment and the ability to develop working relationships with Members.
- Ability to develop cross cutting approach to strategic issues.
- Communication skills, both written and oral.
- Competent on a range of IT packages in order to create reports, presentations and other documents.

You will:
- Ensure that decisions taken by Committee and their subsequent minutes are effectively communicated to all stakeholders and to monitor their implementation.
- Ensure compliance with the relevant legislation in administering meetings.
- Ensure that agenda items and decisions are consistent with the Work Programme and to advise the Chair and Senior Officers on the appropriateness of items for the agenda.
- Assist in investigative scrutiny exercises undertaken by the Scrutiny Committees.
- Assist with organising the attendance of Partners and experts at Committee.
