The City of London Corporation is a small borough which consists of the square mile. Children's Social Care sits within the People's division where we carry out all Local Authority functions. This is an exciting opportunity for you to develop as part of a small, tight knit team which covers the area of the City of London and works with services and organisations across the country. We're a generic social care team which covers MASH and the full range of cases including Child in Need, Children with Disabilities, Looked After Children/Care Leavers, Private fostering, and Court work. This means that you will supervise, and line manage a child/young person and family's case for the entirety of their involvement in our service, allowing you to impact and form deep and meaningful relationships.
Working as part of an OFSTED Graded 'Outstanding' Service, you will have the opportunity to develop your practice through a range of learning and development opportunities. This role requires a relentless focus on supporting and improving the performance of the workforce, and an understanding of effective methodologies, approaches and frameworks that enable this.
Responsibilities of the role
The Deputy Team Manager is a key leadership role, within Children's Social Care. As the Deputy Manager you will be expected to demonstrate excellent leadership and management skills. You will oversee the day-to-day operations of the team. The team comprises of 3 senior social workers, 4 social workers and administrative staff. Your focus will be on ensuring your team feels equipped, supported, and motivated to embed a positive team culture with a commitment to outstanding practices. Managing the operational effectiveness of the team will include allocating and prioritising work, and ensuring that case records, assessments, reviews and plans for all children and families are maintained in line with practice standards, policy, and legislation. Regular and ongoing case work supervision and audits are undertaken to improve outcomes for children, young people, and families. You will also be expected to ensure that a CYP/families voice and feedback is captured in the work of social workers.
Requirements of the role:
Must hold a professional social work qualification (Degree, DipSW, CQSW or CSS as relevant). Must have a current registration as a Social Worker with Social Work England. Evidence of significant post-qualifying development and extensive evidence of CPD. Must have undertaken Social Work Systemic Training. Extensive post-qualifying experience and at least two years' experience in a supervisory/management role. Understanding of the key current policy directives for children's social care, including detailed knowledge of relevant legislation and experience of applying it in complex settings. Provide strong and effective leadership within Children's Social Care and proven ability to provide vision and direction to individuals. Experience of providing high quality reflective Supervision to social workers. More information about the role and requirements can be found in the Job Description.
