JOB TITLE: Director, Capital Structure Advisory
LOCATION: London
HOURS:Full Time
WORKING PATTERN:Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending at least two days per week, or 40% of your time, at our London office.
About this opportunity
We currently have an excellent opportunity for a director to join our Capital Structure Advisory (CSA) team. You'll be an integral part of a small team, working with a very wide variety of clients across our corporate franchise, as well as with rating agencies.
CSA is a key part of our large corporate franchise tasked with driving incremental debt financing mandates in partnerships with relationship managers and product experts. CSA achieves this through proactive idea generation and producing product-agnostic pitches to corporate clients, as well as through providing ratings advisory services, where we assist clients with acquiring ratings and managing their ratings profile.

Your accountabilities will include:
  • Instigate and direct thematic research / content for clients, qualitative and quantitative, that helps foster client engagement and develop the broader Lloyds Corporate and Institutional Bank (CIB) franchise.
  • Provide thought leadership in the creation of marketing materials, pitch books and reports, to ensure successful promotion of the bank and the team’s activities both internally and externally to develop an industry-leading profile in this area.
  • Lead Capital Structure and ratings elements of client pitching.
  • Support and lead execution work, whether that be ad hoc provision of ratings insight to product teams or fuller debt and ratings advisory engagements.
  • Support Structure Finance & Syndicate (SF&S) and CIB’s origination agenda and targets (as delegated from time to time) through their work, focusing on driving client relevance and hence business opportunity for Lloyds.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with external partners in the market including ratings and advisory firms, representing LBG at the highest levels at industry events and with clients as we transform our business.
  • Demonstrate strong capability to independently hold Capital Structure and credit ratings discussions with clients and be apt at partner management (both internally and externally).
  • Build a strong network across the bank to help spot and pursue opportunities and join up and enhance client delivery.

What we need from you?
  • Working experience in Capital Structure Advisory and execution.
  • Client-facing credit rating advisory experience and a strong applied knowledge of credit ratings and rating agency methodologies.
  • Familiarity and ability to deal with financial models.

Ideally, you'll have a strong degree and relevant post graduate professional qualification (e.g. CFA, ACA) and have had the benefit of formal credit training.

This role is considered Certified under the Senior Manager and Certification Regime as either requiring mandatory qualifications or being deemed as a role capable of providing ‘significant harm’ to customers. Due to this, successful candidate will be subject to enhanced levels of vetting, and required to complete a fitness and propriety attestation on commencement in role. Colleagues performing this role will be required to be complete a fitness and propriety attestation on an annual basis and will also be subject to additional routine criminal and credit checks

This role has been identified as a Client-dealing function under SYSC 27.8.18R as defined in the FCA Handbook
The Person (“P”) performs the client-dealing FCA certification function for a firm if:(1) P is carrying out any of the activities in the table in SYSC 27.8.19R; and(2) those activities will involve P dealing with:(a) a person with or for whom those activities are carried out; or(b) the property of any such person;in a manner substantially connected with the carrying on of regulated activities by the firm.
If you manage certified colleagues this role will be identified as Manager of certification employees under SYSC 27.8.13R as defined in the FCA Handbook(1) The function of managing or supervising a certification employee, directly or indirectly, is an FCA-specified significant-harm function.(2) A function in (1) is not an FCA certification function for that firm if it is performed by an SMF manager of that firm.
