This Director position supports the Forensic Investigations team in the Risk, Forensics & Compliance  (RF&C), practice - one of seven practices focused on client delivery services across the Firm. Ankura’s RF&C practice has the ambition to be the clear market leader in its field and the London RF&C practice is part of a cohesive global team.

The RF&C practice provides a wide range of services to enable our clients to investigate, prevent or remediate fraud, corruption, or misconduct. The practice is involved in complex, global and often high-profile engagements assisting clients in investigating issues such as bribery & corruption, fraud, and other conduct matters.

Ankura’s RF&C practice provides clients with expertise with investigations, compliance & forensic accounting advisory which includes:

  • Investigations into bribery & corruption, regulatory violations, and complex fraud
  • Forensic accounting and financial reporting investigations including reconstruction of books and records
  • Investigations into reputationally damaging behavioural misconduct
  • Anti-bribery & corruption reviews and pre-acquisition anti-bribery and corruption due diligence

Responsibilities:

  • Managing day-to-day delivery of forensic investigations, fraud risk assessments, forensic accounting assignments, compliance reviews and forensic audits
  • Designing, crafting, and delivering client proposals, presentations, and marketing materials.
  • Preparing engagement work plans, working papers, project documentation, progress reports, draft, and final reports to the highest level of quality.
  • Working with clients, their legal advisors, internal and external auditors and regulatory authorise in sometimes sensitive and adversarial situations.
  • Work closely with Ankura’s Data & Technology team to embed appropriate forensic technology solutions into engagement delivery.
  • Plan, manage and control budget on investigation engagements
  • Monitor and manage risk through the engagement cycle. Adhere to the strictest standards of client and engagement confidentiality.
  • Maintain active communication with counsel, clients, and internal team to manage expectations and ensure satisfaction.
  • Manage, develop, train and mentor more junior staff on projects and assess performance for engagement and year-end review.
  • Actively engage in business development activities, identifying opportunities, supporting pursuits, and winning new work alongside more senior members of the team.
  • On occasion, participating in public speaking events, conferences, seminars, marketing events and client meetings.

Requirements:

  • Accounting qualification (ACC, ACCA or equivalent) is preferrable
  • Proven forensics and/or investigations experience in a consulting or accounting firm e.g. Big 4 and/or boutique consultancy
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written with first class report writing and presentation skills
  • Track record of managing teams on international investigations, compliance risk assessments, forensic audits, disputes support or expert witness
  • Willingness to be proactive, adaptable and entrepreneurial as part of an ambitious, fast growing team
  • Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical, mathematical, and research skills and ability prepare and analyse structured and unstructured information accurately
  • Ability to adapt quickly in handling multiple, evolving tasks and/or engagements, and ability to effectively re-prioritise deadlines in an ever-changing environment
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills computer
  • Travel flexible, both nationally and internationally at short notice
  • Due to the international nature of our work, in addition to English, language skills in either French, Spanish, Russian or Arabic would be an advantage
